J.D. Swallow, and HVAC company in Ottawa, was looking to fix their current logo and mascot, and reached out after word got out I was working on another logo and mascot. This project took a lot longer than expected, with multiple iterations and requests that I had to steer back into the right direction. There was a bit more of a rush on this job, as they wanted the rebrand before they could make collateral to advertise at Ottawa Senators games.
INITIAL CONCEPTS
The colour of the Swallow mascot was all based on the Barn Swallow, a native species to the area which has warm colours and represents building a nest to keep your space warm.
After many iterations of the wordmark were assembled, we were able to settle on the badge design, with some variations on the style and colour since the client was indecisive about what I was recommending.
This was a special version of the mascot, branded with Ottawa Senators colours and logo, along with the newly styled jerseys. They are currently using it for advertising on social media.
FINAL DESIGN
After handing off the design, some minor tweaks were made to the overall wordmark, but the design mostly remains the same, with the mascot and wordmark working together.
